Sheriff Mulade has emerged as one of the notable voices advocating for justice, peace, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta. Over the years, he has built a reputation as an environmental rights activist, peace ambassador, and grassroots mobiliser committed to improving the lives of oil-producing communities in Delta State and across Nigeria.
Now contesting to represent the people of Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Mulade is presenting himself as a candidate driven by service, unity, and inclusive development.
Warri Federal Constituency, which consists of diverse ethnic nationalities including the Itsekiri, Ijaw, and Urhobo people, remains one of the most politically and economically significant constituencies in Delta State. Warri is not only a commercial hub but also a strategic oil-producing region whose people have long demanded better infrastructure, environmental justice, and equitable representation.
Mulade’s public life has largely revolved around advocacy for environmental protection and the welfare of host communities affected by oil exploration activities. As National Coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), he has consistently campaigned against environmental degradation, oil spills, gas flaring, and the neglect of communities in the Niger Delta. His advocacy has focused on ensuring that communities contributing immensely to Nigeria’s oil wealth receive fair treatment, quality infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities.
His interventions have also extended to peacebuilding and conflict resolution in the Niger Delta. During periods of militancy and tension in oil-producing communities, Mulade advocated for dialogue, reconciliation, and constructive engagement instead of violence. His peace efforts earned him recognition as a peace advocate and development strategist committed to stability in the region.
Beyond environmental activism, Mulade has repeatedly spoken on issues affecting ordinary Nigerians. He has called for industrialisation, youth empowerment, and job creation as practical solutions to unemployment and insecurity in Delta State. He has also advocated improved governance, transparency, and accountability in the management of oil revenues, insisting that host communities deserve direct developmental benefits from the resources extracted from their lands.

In recognition of his contributions to peacebuilding and environmental advocacy, Mulade has received several honours from community organisations and professional bodies. Reports indicate that he was honoured by the Ijaw community in Lagos as “the voice of the voiceless” for his advocacy on behalf of marginalized Niger Delta communities.
As he seeks election into the National Assembly, Mulade has promised to provide inclusive representation that cuts across ethnic and political divides. He has consistently emphasized unity among the various groups within Warri Federal Constituency, insisting that development can only thrive where peace and cooperation exist.
According to him, his legislative agenda will focus on: Youth empowerment and employment creation; Women and elderly welfare; Environmental remediation and sustainable development; Agricultural and fisheries development; Skills acquisition and economic empowerment; Peaceful coexistence among ethnic nationalities and Improved infrastructure and social services.
Mulade has also pledged to work closely with traditional rulers, stakeholders, and community leaders to attract development projects and federal attention to Warri and surrounding communities. His message has consistently centered on peace, unity, development, and people-oriented leadership.
For many observers, Sheriff Mulade’s long-standing involvement in environmental justice, grassroots advocacy, and peacebuilding gives him a strong foundation to represent the people of Warri Federal Constituency effectively at the National Assembly. His supporters believe that his understanding of the Niger Delta’s challenges, combined with his advocacy experience, positions him as a credible voice capable of pushing for policies that will benefit the constituency and the wider Niger Delta region.

Delta State politics may have just entered its most dangerous and unpredictable era since 1999. What looked like minor cracks within the APC has suddenly exploded into a full-scale political earthquake. The defection of former Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Victor Ochei, and former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) signals the birth of a potentially ruthless opposition bloc capable of destabilizing the current political balance in Delta State.
