In Ghana’s latest political flashpoint, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu Deputy Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for Sissala West has publicly vowed to resign from Parliament if President John Dramani Mahama does not sign the contentious anti-LGBTQ+ bill into law following its passage in Parliament.
Sukparu’s ultimatum comes amid renewed pressure by conservative politicians and religious groups for the government to endorse a law that would impose strict restrictions on LGBTQ+ rights.
