Key stakeholders in Nigeria’s energy industry, regulators, policymakers, and operators are set to gather in Lagos to deliberate on practical solutions for cutting carbon emissions in the country’s oil and gas sector, as Nigeria intensifies efforts to achieve its ambitious net-zero emissions target by 2060.
The high-level conference, organised by Oriental News Nigeria, is scheduled to hold on July 23, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
The event marks the fifth edition of the annual conference dedicated to advancing conversations around energy transition, climate commitments, and regulatory reforms shaping Nigeria’s extractive industry.
According to organisers, this year’s conference will revolve around the theme: “Carbon Capture: Accelerating Decarbonisation Initiatives in Nigeria’s Extractive Industry Through Broad Regulatory Reforms.”
The discussion comes at a critical time when Nigeria is ramping up policy and legislative frameworks aimed at tackling climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The event is expected to spotlight the proposed National Decarbonisation Bill, a key legislative initiative designed to create a stronger legal framework to support Nigeria’s climate ambitions and complement the provisions of the Climate Change Act 2021. Stakeholders are expected to examine how regulatory reforms can drive sustainable practices while ensuring energy security and economic stability.
Leading the discussions will be Kola Adesina, a respected Nigerian entrepreneur and energy expert, who is expected to provide insights into ongoing reforms, sustainability strategies, and decarbonisation efforts across the nation’s energy value chain.
The conference will also address pressing concerns around financing limitations, investment opportunities, operational sustainability, and climate risk management within the oil and gas industry.
Industry experts are expected to deliberate on the growing challenge of balancing environmental responsibility with business performance, especially as global pressure mounts on energy-producing nations to lower carbon footprints while maintaining reliable energy supply.
In addition, participants will explore emerging technologies and innovative solutions such as carbon capture systems, hydrogen energy adoption, and digital technologies that could accelerate Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy production.
