Family Cries Out After Thieves Steal Phones and Valuables

A woman has cried out after she and her family woke up in the morning to discover that several mobile phones and other belongings had been stolen from their home while they were sleeping.

Speaking during an interview with Next Africa Daily on Friday, 30 October 2026, Chinenye Okoro, from Benin, said the stolen items included phones belonging to different family members, including their children, as well as her business phone.

She became emotional and broke down in tears while explaining the loss, especially because her business phone was among the items stolen.

According to her, the family woke up to discover that their door was open, but they could not explain how the thieves entered the house or whether the door had not been properly locked before they went to sleep.

In another complaint, a resident also reported that his son's bicycle had been stolen.

The residents are using the incidents to warn members of the public to be careful and protect their belongings.

With Christmas approaching, people are advised to check their doors properly before going to bed, ensure they are securely locked and remain conscious of their surroundings.

Residents are encouraged not to take their home security for granted.
