INEC: 2027 Results Won’t Be Fixed

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that the results of the 2027 general elections will not be decided before voting.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, gave the assurance at a conference and retreat for senior police officers in Owerri, Imo State.

Amupitan said INEC was working with the police and other security agencies to provide better security during the elections.

He said insecurity in some parts of the country remained a major concern because it could prevent some Nigerians from voting.

The INEC chairman also urged political parties and candidates to focus on issues and policies instead of personal attacks during their campaigns.

He said the commission was taking steps to tackle vote buying, especially activities carried out outside polling units.

Amupitan added that INEC was learning from previous elections and improving its preparations for 2027.

He assured Nigerians that the commission would continue working towards a free, fair and credible election.
