Former Nigerian presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has issued a strong condemnation following the killing of a teacher in Nigeria, describing the incident as another painful reminder of what he called a rapidly deteriorating national security situation.
Obi, reacting to the tragedy, expressed deep sorrow and anger, stressing that the continued killing of teachers and civilians reflects a nation struggling to protect its most basic institutions.
He warned that when educators are no longer safe, the future of the country itself is placed in serious danger.
He further noted that the attack adds to a growing list of violent incidents targeting innocent citizens, especially in vulnerable communities and public spaces. According to him, the situation is no longer isolated but systemic, demanding urgent and decisive government intervention.
Obi called on security agencies and leaders at all levels to move beyond statements and take concrete steps to stop the escalating wave of violence.
He emphasized that Nigeria cannot afford to normalize the loss of lives, especially those shaping the next generation.
He extended his condolences to the family of the slain teacher and urged national reflection on the value of human life and education.
