US Lawmaker Defies Pressure, Accuses Nigerian Defence Minister Over Rising Insecurity Crisis

A fresh international controversy has erupted after a United States lawmaker publicly challenged Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, declaring that attempts to silence her over worsening insecurity in the country would fail.

The lawmaker, Kimberly Daniels, alleged that following her recent remarks on killings and violence in parts of Nigeria, individuals linked to the minister tried to discredit her position and influence U.S. officials to defend Nigeria’s security leadership.

Daniels insisted she was speaking out for communities under attack and called for accountability, saying no intimidation would stop her from raising concerns about human rights and security issues.

The dispute adds new global attention to Nigeria’s escalating insecurity crisis, especially after renewed violence in the North Central and North West regions.
