Port Harcourt, Nigeria The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified four political allies of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from contesting in the party's House of Representatives primary elections scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
According to the final list of aspirants released by the party on Friday, those barred from participating include two incumbent members of the National Assembly: Awaji Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead.
Abiante, a prominent Rivers politician, notably purchased the governorship nomination form for Governor Fubara.
The other two disqualified aspirants are Air Commodore John Opera (retired) and Hon. Anderson Igbiki.

In contrast, the APC cleared 21 aspirants to contest the primaries, including Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Amaewhule is vying for the Obio/Apor Federal Constituency seat, currently held by his kinsman and House of Representatives Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda.
The state APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, confirmed the list in a statement issued in Port Harcourt titled 'Final List of Aspirants for the House of Representatives Primary Election for Saturday, 16th May, 2026.'
Ikenga advised all aspirants to take the notice seriously and comply accordingly, noting that the list was released by the party's national leadership.
