They Asked for Our Votes, But Did They Remember Us?

Government is often described as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. But after elections, many citizens begin to ask if the government still remembers the people who voted for them.

Before elections, politicians make promises and present themselves as servants who are ready to work for citizens. But after winning, some of those promises are forgotten, leaving many people disappointed.

Nigeria is a country where many hardworking people are ready to work, but jobs are not available for everyone. Youths, adults and even children struggle every day to survive.

Begging has become common in many places, while some people see it as their only way to get money for food. Many promises made during elections are yet to be fulfilled.

When people have no jobs or proper means of survival, some young people may turn to drug abuse, cybercrime and other illegal activities in an attempt to survive. Nigeria needs serious attention now.

Government should not only be about winning elections and making promises. It should also be about creating opportunities, protecting citizens and giving people a reason to believe in their country. If these problems are not addressed, future generations may have to face the consequences.
