Is Delta NDC Guber Candidate Ready for Battle with Oborevwori?

I don't see Chris Iyovwaye, the Delta state guber candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ready for the battle ahead of him with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. No, I don't. And I have my reasons. Delta state is a stronghold of these power mongers. They have seized the state. So, coming from no where and campaigning for the governorship of Delta state will be a very Herculean task.

The man does not seem prepared. It's like some of them are banking on the reputation of Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate. Banking on Peter Obi may not give him the victory. You must fight your battles yourself. I'm yet to see his structures, his campaign manifesto, his plans for the state, especially the youths and his media strategies. Does he have the manpower, the economic power to prosecute the election?

The APC, the party of the incumbent governor has more than enough foot soldiers across the 25 local government areas. The party also has the financial muscle to muzzle everyone to vote for them. The organization of NDC seems very poor and it seems lacking in structures across the state.

To battle APC and secure a win in Delta, you must be ready for a fight. His senatorial candidates, Ovie Omo-Agege for Delta central and Victor Ochei for Delta North seem to have a good following but he cannot bank on the strength of his se senatorial candidates to clinch the governorship win. Even Ochei's structures seem uncertain. But he has a big edge over the party's governorship candidate.

Ordinarily, the people crave for a change. The state has been under the influence of same people over the years. Anybody who can summon the courage to wrestle power from them will be welcome by the people of the state. Delta is the richest state in Nigeria but the people of the state appear to be living the most poorest lives in Nigeria.

The allocations coming to the state is huge but it does not affect the lives of the people. Why should Delta state not be like Dubai? Yes, tell me. Why should Delta not be like New York? It has the money. But its being mismanaged by people entrusted with it.

Governor Sheriff has severally boasted that Delta has money. But the money is not reflecting in the lives of the people. This is why a change is needed. But can a Chris Iyovwaye be able to fight a winning war with Sheriff? I beg to disagree.
